Gutter Cleaning in Henrico County, VA
One of the oldest counties in the United States, curving around Richmond on three sides — from Varina’s colonial roots to Short Pump’s newest subdivisions, we cover it all.
Older Than the United States Itself
Henrico traces back to 1611, when Sir Thomas Dale established the “Citie of Henricus” with 300 colonists on a peninsula now called Farrar’s Island — the second permanent English settlement in Virginia after Jamestown. In 1634, it became one of the original eight shires of the Virginia Colony, making Henrico one of the oldest counties in the entire country, a century and a half before the United States existed.
Richmond itself was officially part of Henrico County until 1842, when the city became fully independent. Since then, ten counties and three independent cities have been carved from Henrico’s original territory. See our main gutter cleaning service page for what every visit includes, anywhere in the county.
Varina: Henrico’s Original Heart
After the Powhatan attack of 1622 nearly destroyed Henricus, settlers established a new community on the other side of the James River called Varina — named for a Spanish tobacco variety that inspired the strain grown there. Varina became Henrico’s first county seat and site of its first courthouse. It’s also where Pocahontas lived part of her life after marrying colonist John Rolfe in 1614.
Today, Varina is Henrico’s largest magisterial district, covering much of the county’s eastern portion. It’s a world away, historically speaking, from the newer growth corridors on the county’s western side.
Why Henrico Isn’t One Job, It’s Several
Short Pump & the Far West End
Heavy loblolly pine coverage and newer suburban construction define this fast-growing western corridor. See our Short Pump gutter cleaning page for the specifics.
Tuckahoe & West End
A mix of established suburban neighborhoods and newer development. See our West End & Tuckahoe gutter cleaning page for that area’s detail.
Varina & the Historic East
Henrico’s oldest settled ground, with a longer history and, in places, older housing stock than the county’s newer western growth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gutter Cleaning in Henrico County
Do you cover all of Henrico County, or just certain parts?
We cover Henrico broadly, from Short Pump and the Far West End to the historic Varina area on the county’s eastern side. If you’re unsure whether your specific address is in range, call and we’ll tell you honestly.
Is Henrico County the same as the City of Richmond?
No, though Richmond was officially part of Henrico County until 1842. Today they’re separate jurisdictions, and Henrico curves around Richmond on the west, north, and east.
Are homes in older parts of Henrico different to service than newer ones?
Often, yes. Older properties, particularly in the historic eastern part of the county, may have original hardware worth checking carefully, while newer western construction typically has more straightforward modern systems.
Do you serve Tuckahoe, the county’s largest community?
Yes, see our West End & Tuckahoe gutter cleaning page for that area’s specific detail.
How often should a typical Henrico home get gutters cleaned?
Twice a year is the standard baseline for most homes. Properties under heavy pine coverage in the western part of the county often need three to four cleanings a year instead.
